A very nice Anglo- Saxon bronze Stirrup mount This item which dates to circa 9th- 10th Century AD, is decorated with a very crude cross design These items fitted at the top of the stirrup where the leather strap would pass through.It still has present its two retaining holes which would have secured it to the leather . The footplate is decorated with a degraded horses head with large nostrils,and raised eyes .The iron pin is missing as is usual with all saxon brooches , but the catchplate and hinge are still present . 11 CM in length -
